Romeo Fernandes emerges as first Indian footballer to play in Brazil

Indian football is gradually reaching its crescendo.  With India looking to emerge as one of the frontline footballing nations in the world a considerable amount of talent is on display both at the club and international levels.

 Brazil is considered as the country where football has a unique identity and emphasizes its dominance as a world  beater.  Nowadays, Indian footballers are looking to expand their horizons and play at major leagues of the world which provides them with the opportunity to compete with the best. 

Adding to the latest kitty of Indian players at foreign shores is star midfielder from Dempo and FC Goa Romeo Fernandes who has got the chance to play for Brazilian club Atletico. Romeo Ferdandes is one of the most talented youngsters of Indian football and getting to play at a leading club in Brazil certainly stands out as a great achievement. Considered as quite an engine in the midfield, his deft touches and ability to find the back of the net has impressed  many critics. His stint with FC Goa at the recently concluded Indian Soccer League was also quite appreciable. 

Romeo Fernandes had come as a substitute in the game against Nacional PR.  As per Fernandes, “ The opportunity extended to him was just Godsend”  Former Brazilian star player Beto is acting as the agent of Romeo Fernandes in Brazil and both him and Zico share high hopes about this young gun from India. As the President of the All India Football Federation, minister Praful Patel has always encouraged the growth of Indian football. An Indian footballer playing at a top level in Brazil certainly acts as a positive sign for the future.
