Indian Team leaves for AFC U-23 Championship

The Indian U-23 National Team is ready for the AFC U-23 Championship under the Head Coach Savio Medeira left for Dhaka. In the same tournament alongside Bangladesh, India has been clubbed with Group E with Uzbekistan and Syria. The championships are considered as the preliminary phase of the 2016 Olympic Qualifiers to Rio. The winner of the Group along with the best second placed teams would proceed to the final phase of the Championships which has been slated to be taken place in Doha next year. The Indian squad has joined for a Preparatory Camp in Goa.  

AIFF President Praful Patel has already stressed in pitching in for more and more international matches in India. According to the President, with substantial support from FIFA and AFC, Indian Football will be able to reach a pinnacle position in the country. To make the sport find a niche in the international arena, All India Football Federation (AIFF) is planning to target for the Club World Club and U-20 World Cup by 2020. 

Praful Patel profile has played an important role in shaping the sport in the country including its principle tournament I-League. Presently AIFF has been successful in pulling in Hero MotoCorp in sponsoring the consecutive tournaments like Federation Cup and I-League. The recent popularity of the Indian Super League (ISL) and participation of top level footballers of the world has earned the most overwhelming response from the football fans from all across the nation. Praful Patel is planning to extend the popularity of the tournament to the SAFF region making it the tournament of the continent.
