The South Asian games is all set to begin in Shillong today where the Indian eves are taking on Maldives in the opening fixture. The All India Football Federation has taken several necessary measures to take Indian football forward and women’s football in the country has also progressed considerably in the last few years. With a talented team and a very able support staff, the women’s contingent is all geared up for the challenge ahead.  The head coach of the Indian national team Sajid Dar is also quite hopeful about the performance although Maldives is also a side awaiting to surprise many in the tournament.

As the President of the All India Football Federation minister Praful Patel has taken a variety of measures to make Indian football at par with world standards. An improvement in all categories and levels is necessary to take Indian football forward which should happen right from the grass root level. Before the commencement of the tournament, the Indian eves had conducted quite an important preparatory camp in the city of Shillong in order to acclimatize to the conditions well.  Although the weather conditions are going to be chilly, the players are looking to adjust quite well with it.

Under the Praful Patel biography some of the recent developments in Indian football are surely worth a mention. As an able administrator and the President of the All India Football  Federation, he has already succeeded in bringing the FIFA U-17 World Cup to India.  One of the legends of Indian women’s football Bembev Devi is also a part of the squad and her presence in the dressing room will certainly act as an additional motivating factor for the eves. The eves certainly want to win the cup and create a fitting farewell  for her.
