18 girls have been shortlisted on AFC U-14 Regional Championship

18 members have been shortlisted for the Indian U-14 Women’s National Team who will be reaching to the AFC U-14 Girl’s Regional Championship, post a preparatory camp in Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat. It is indeed a matter of great pride that women’s football is taking great pace which will eventually lead to the progress of Indian Football.

The AFC U-14 Girl’s Regional Championship has been scheduled to kick – off in Kathmandu from April 20, 2015. Indian Team has been clubbed in Group B alongside Bhutan and Bangladesh. Praful Patel profile as the President of AIFF has always stressed on the progress of Women’s football for the all-pervasive development of Indian Football. Patel said that the Strategic Planning of AIFF has laid special focus on women’s football so that the ladies brigade can nail their propelling performance on an international level.

The Indian girls will face off against Bhutan in their opening encounter on April 20, 2015 and will clash swords against Bangladesh, a day later, on April 21, 2015. The Head Coach of the team Maymol Rocky is highly satisfied with the performance of these girls as she said, “We are prepared and ready for the challenge ahead. We have a talented squad and all we need to do now is play and win. We will work hard to achieve our goal; that is to win the Championship”. General Secretary Kushal Das had also announced that AIFF is planning to commence a format like Indian Super League (ISL) for women to popularize the sport on an international level.
