U-14 Girls’ Team registers an impressive win

Women’s football is taking its pace in the Indian sports field. It is, indeed, an indubitable fact that the progress of women football will determine the all-pervasive development of Indian Football. The Indian U-14 Women’s National Team returned with a glorious mark by nailing their position with a propelling victory against St. Xavier’s Boys in a Practice Match at Gandhi Nagar.
Initially they had succumbed to an own Goal in the 8th minute, the Indian girls did not have to turn back as they piled the pressure in, while displaying an array of beautiful football. Although the score remain 1-0 in favour of boys, the girls simply bounced back and their regular attempts on the opponent citadel were awarded in the 57th minute when Somaaya Mukundan scored to make the score board on an equal range. Post 57th Minute, the team took the lead through Soumya Guguloth in the 76th minute and held on to this solitary goal advantage for the rest of the match.
Praful Patel profile as the AIFF President has always stressed on the all-pervasive development of Indian football. According to Patel, Women football must be strengthened in pursuit of the progress of the sport both in India and in world. Special focus has been laid on the same in the Strategic Planning of AIFF which was inaugurated by FIFA Secretary General Jerome Valcke. Not only so, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between AIFF and Japan Football Federation also had special provision for Women’s football.
