Mizoram emerges as one of the leading football states in India

Indian football is certainly progressing in a very positive direction.  Among the various states in India which has made a rapid progress in football, Mizoram certainly stands out as one of the frontrunners. Already, the state has won the national finals in the year 2014 and the Mizoram Premier League also happens to be one of the keenly contested tournaments in the country. 

Under the Praful Patel profile, the All India Football Federation has come up with the project on developing football from a grassroot level in tamdem with the state associations. Aizawl FC, one of the pioneer clubs from the state is already competing in the I-League. Aizawl FC is swiftly getting accustomed to life in the big league.

 They've just sacked their Spaniard manager Manuel Retamero Fraile and approved the services of the very experienced Jahar Das. If the entire statistics of the  Mizo League is taken into consideration, around 42 Mizo footballers featured in the line-ups of the nine I League teams this season  with  a good 20% of the player-share. 

With the final phase of the Santosh trophy beginning in Nagpur today,  Mizoram certainly stands out as one of the major favourites. Under the Praful Patel constituency, the state of Mizoram has progressed quite rapidly in Indian football and more than six artificial stadiums has also been constructed here. The game of football continues to remain a community exercise in Mizoram. A club is usually locality-based and thus, carries strong local affiliations and identity. A season's budget of around Rs 10-15 lakh is met by contributions from local patrons, or in most cases, a team of fund-raisers who go out on a door to door basis.
