Mohun Bagan, the mariners or the century old club from India is standing on the top of the I-League. As the defending champions of the league, the club has a point to prove and has come up with a very impressive performance so far.  The All India Football Federation has taken several important measures to make the I-League, one of the most coveted tournaments in the country. Over the years, the popularity of the league has grown considerably with some of the top clubs battling it out for the premier spot. 

As the President of the All India Football Federation, minister Praful Patel has taken some of the high end initiatives to make the sport more popular in the country. In the game against Sporting Clube de Goa , Mohun Bagan came up with a narrow victory with a convincing strike from Katsumi Yusa. The first half of the game spanned out to be quite an even encounter as both the sides hurled attacks on each other. The deadlock of the game was finally broken in the 73rd minute by Katsumi Yusa came up with a comprehensive run and broke the opposition defence. 

As the AIFF President Praful Patel has majorly contributed in making the I-League as much as popular. After being down by a solitary goal, the Goan outfit imposed heavy pressure on the Mohun Bagan defence. But mainly due to the efforts of Pranay Halder in the midfield, the Bagan contingent could hold on to the attacks. With this particular victory, Mohun Bagan has secured the prime position in the I-league and is ahead of all the teams with 3 points.  It looks like they stand out as the team to beat this season and come out with flying colours in the first phase.
