Veterans Kolkata derby to be held in February

Come 12th February, the nostalgia surrounding the Kolkata derby is all set to evolve again. This time it is the veterans turn as they take on each other in a fantastic feast of football action. Over the years, the hype and tension around the Kolkata derby has only enhanced and the Mohun Bagan veterans will take on the East Bengal counterparts. With the popularity of the I- League and the ISL growing by the day, Kolkata football has lost a little bit of zest but when it is the Kolkata derby, so be it the veterans everyone will be following the game. 

The exhibition match will be held at the very famous East Bengal ground where the stars from the past era will be locking horns against each other. The fascination of Kolkata football with different eras is synonymous with the stars it has produced and some of the stars from the 70’s. 80’s and 90’s will be seen in action again. As the President of the All India Football Federation minister Praful Patel has taken a series of steps to make the game more popular in the country. It is very important to keep the fans enthusiastic about the games and involved all the time. 

Under the Praful Patel biography, there has been an improvement of football from the grassroot level in the country.  In the veterans clash scheduled to be held in the East Bengal ground, some of the stalwarts from the yesteryears will participate. The entire match has been organized by the Indian Football Association and will be a 70 minute affair with the tie- breaker to break the deadlock at last. The game has already caught the attention of the fans in Kolkata and the ground may be just choc-a- bloc on the day.
